I followed them both and still pay for both for now. Like DayOne - I wasn't terribly happy when they went subscription and left iCloud but. I've been a long time 1Password user and I really liked the beauty and power this application had. #Update 1password for mac passwordFew of us who are heavy password manager users will keep paying for 1Password but for most people I know (easily vast majority) - Chrome password manager, Keychain, or something of the sort is more than enough for what they need. MOST people will look at a monthly subscription and choose keychain. I think 1Password's biggest competition is going to be Apple Keychain. I am getting so fed up with subscriptions, I'd rather have more $ in my bank account than feel forced to use an app cuz I'm paying monthly for it. I used to spend hundreds and hundreds a year on applications - I love supporting developers and trying new things but. I'm starting to get very fed up with subscriptions - I've gone out of my way to cancel about 60% of stuff I subscribed to this year alone. Companies today no longer abide by the rule of having stagnant money sitting around, meaning when hard times hit, there's nothing to fall back on.ĭespite the small minority here of overall users (my opinion), most people will continue to use 1Password, and they may even gain users over time. it results in more stable income for the company to pay developers their hourly/salary wages. It's amazing the reaction at subscription apps. Since KeePass is open source there's an abundance of options but that also means a non unified approach (as in different clients with different UX) for all your devices. Don't have any experience with KeePass clients for other platforms yet. Strongbox is an appstore purchase $49.99 for iOS and $22.99 for macOS. That way your data will never leave your own devices. ) but their next release will support WiFi synching so you just synch databases on multiple devices via your own network. Currently only Vault synching with 3rd party Cloud providers (iCloud, Dropbox. #Update 1password for mac licenseMy final decision will depend on any bugs that surface and if they will fix that "bug" that needs to delete the empty file from iCloud.Įnpass is either subscription or a onetime Lifetime License (which you can get for half off if you search the net for coupons) & unlimited devices. Need to do some more testing with both but currently I'm liking Enpass. Probably for when you go back to them later they can reuse the same db file but tbh this might also be a bug as I stated before.īeen playing around with Strongbox (iOS/macOS) too since they use KeePass Vaults which can be used cross platform with any client of your own choosing. I also noticed when deleting the Vault from iCloud there might be a bug where they only empty the database but don't delete the actual file from iCloud. Haven't encountered any weird behaviour so far but macintoshmac seemed to have an issue with updating a password directly when changing it on a specific website. Not open source but they did get audited in 2018 I think. Vault synched to iCloud and accessible accross my iPhone, Macbook & Win10 PC. I'm currently testing Enpass & I like it so far. When you take the guesswork out of your financial situation, you can plan ahead for how you are going to sustain your livelihood. “By brushing off the financial side of a career in the arts, artists are practically ensuring that they will be unfulfilled personally, professionally, and financially,” explains artist and financial advisor Elaine Grogan Luttrull. Talking about finances can put anyone on edge, but it’s an unavoidable step in a viable business plan and a pretty major one, too! Ignorance is bliss… except when it comes to your finances. Based on the profile of your ideal buyer, settle on a marketing strategy that complements your art business and list these outlets in your business plan. There a ton of different ways to market your art-email newsletters, art fairs, social media, galleries, blogging-but not all of them might be where your customers are looking. Picture art view mini how to#This is a marketing term you’ll hear time and time again, but that’s only because it’s so important! When you figure out what your ideal client is like (the one most likely to buy your artwork), you’ll start to understand how you can promote your pieces more effectively, so you actually make some money.Īsk yourself these nine questions to narrow down who your buyers are and how to win them over, like what income levels can afford your work and where do these clients tend to shop for art?ĭon’t be careless! Your entire marketing strategy will piggyback off these answers-from how you reach buyers to the tone of voice you use to communicate. Remember, not all customers are created equal. These answers will also help you craft an artist statement later down the line, which you’ll need for everything from show applications to the About section on your website. Every artist will have a different answer, and that’s okay!ĭefining and visualizing your art career in this way will help you see the natural progression of steps to take to grow your art business, not to mention alleviate the “deer in headlights” feeling that comes with taking on a big endeavor. What is your mission? How will you define success? What short- and long-term goals will help you achieve these?īe specific, and stay true to what you want out of an art career. You can even use this handy outline we made just for artists. Grab your laptop or a notepad and start jotting down the plans you have for this new, creative career. It sounds formal, we know, but it doesn’t have to be intimidating. But it’s true! You're selling a product (artwork) to people (collectors) who find value in it.Īnd, like any business starting out, a business plan can help you map out all the basics. Picture art view mini professional#When many people decide to become professional artists, they don’t often realize that they are actually starting their own art business. See, you’re already thinking like an artrepreneur!įollow these eight steps when starting an art business to set yourself up for success: So, where exactly do you begin? Great question. You can picture success in your mind, but the space between that and your current situation looks a little blank at the moment. Now that you’ve chosen to take the leap, figuring out what to do next can be the trickiest part. Establishing yourself in the artist community and making a living from your work is not going to happen overnight.īut by no means is it impossible! It will take planning, time, effort, dedication, and a devotion to lifelong learning. But you have one life, and you are going to make it count.Īnd, despite the excitement, your head’s not in the clouds. Because many artists let excuses and fear-fear of the unknown, fear of taking risks, fear of failure-stop them from even trying. You believe in yourself and your abilities, and that’s the all-important first step. You have made the decision to follow your passion and become a professional artist. After careful consideration and soul-searching, you are ready to take the leap. Support for health/mana/etc bars on the interface and not just the tokens.Īnd say what you will about World of Warcraft, I think it has the best interface of any video game I've ever played when you take into account both how much information it has to get across (lots like any other RPG, and in a timely fashion like any other real time game) and how effectively it gets that information across. You could also then have things like a HUD. BZFLAG MAP MAKING WINDOWSThe initiative windows can take up a ton of space to be able to see it effectively, but it would be much more bearable to have it up all the time if all you could see of it was the text and token images and not the dock itself. The ability to make fully transparent dockables would be very nice. At the same time they often have a lot more specifics to worry about with their single character with a larger array of abilities, items, and options than most monsters, and so I think the interface needs for players and GMs should be different. Players often don't need to worry about digging through libraries of images, controlling more than one creature, or drawing and manipulating objects on multiple layers. I think it's important for a framework to easily support separate GUIs for players and GMs. BZFLAG MAP MAKING CODELike '3d' maps and vision, better light/shadow/vision code would be welcome, and as stated before JavaScript macro language I'm sure would be a good move however I am reluctant to have to learn a whole new language and for all the macro writers having to re-write their current work. I really like some of the other ideas in other threads about these things so I'll leave it to them to say I think. I also forgot to mention my thoughts on the fog system and other actual map/token UI options and I think they could really use a new look at, but I can't really think how. When I used the Adobe CS4 suite I saw just how slick these things can be (though we have to be careful about load and requirements on the system - I assume there are more befitting systems for doing so) and coupled with the new LoS code Trevor was looking at recently this could be really nice and dynamic. In fact he's right that while the frames, etc at the mo are a really nice idea they can be really clunky as i said in my other post. And I think there should be a 'default skin' that looks like a native OS window for people like Rumble. Ok this is about where my views stand on this now. GMs providing and "recommending" skins is fine by me - as long as everything in the interface is where I set it, and I have the ability to choose another if I don't like theirs. Kristof65 wrote:I do like the idea of skins - but they should be determined by the user. I like the idea of overlays & thumbnails as RPTroll suggested, too. I do like the idea of skins - but they should be determined by the user. I really don't see how she could successfully design something that would look good on both mine and hers and keep us both happy without a lot of work. Not because she's any sort of slacker in that department (she's a gifted artist), but primarily because I have a dual 20" widescreen monitor setup, and she has a single 24" monitor. The thought of her being able to dictate how my MT layout looks seriously bugs me. I'm strictly a GM at this point, however, one of my players may be starting up her own game soon where I will be a player. Keep in mind, I'm not currently using MT as a player. If, however, I have to learn each GMs nuances of their changes to the interface for each game, well, in some cases, I'm sure I'd rather just pass on playing. That's going to make me a better player regardless of whether I'm playing Traveller with Bob, D&D with Frank or GURPS with Mary via MT because I'm not going to have to change how I work with MT. If I, as a player, find a layout in MT that works for me, I'm going to become comfortable with it. Simple - people who play multiple games with multiple GMs. I quite dont understand why me as a player should have problem with GM proposed layout as long as it is intuitive and gives mi every function I need. ZACCARIA PINBALL G2 GAME SETTINGS HOW TOThe space between checkpoints is then filled with incremental changes to individual objects in the world. Checkpoints that act as snapshots of the net changes to the world (from the baseline) appear at regular, user-defined intervals. The first chunk of the replay is baseline data describing the starting state of the game world. These chunks contains three types of game-state information, as well as some additional text data. The rest of the replay consists of so called chunks. In terms of data, a replay starts with metadata. Replay data files are saved to the "Saved/Demos/" folder in your project, and have the extension ".replay". The Local File Streamer's single-file output makes distribution and management of saved replays easier, and its asynchronous recording improves performance on systems with lower hard drive speeds, such as consoles. This is the default streamer as of its introduction in Engine version 4.20, replacing the Null Streamer. The Local File Streamer records replay data asynchronously to a single file on local storage (such as a hard drive). There are several different Streamers included with the Engine that can be attached to the DemoNetDriver depending on how the replay data is intended to be viewed. #FORRNITE REPLAY PLAYER DRIVER#The DemoNetDriver is a specialized network driver that passes replicated data to Streamers, which record the information needed to create replays. Even if a project doesn't have a multiplayer mode, any project set up to replicate data is compatible with the Replay System without the need for further modification. At a high level, the Replay system works by using a DemoNetDriver to read data drawn from the built-in replication system, similar to how a NetDriver operates in a live, networked gameplay environment. This feature is available in all games, from live, multiplayer games played on dedicated servers, to single-player games, and even including Play-In-Editor sessions. Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) features a Replay system which can record gameplay for later viewing. |
